Football Game Preview: Denison Yellow Jackets vs. Melissa Cardinals

Denison is 0-3 against Melissa since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will challenge the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Denison has given up an average of 30.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Denison came up short against Lovejoy and fell 35-28. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Leopards are ranked 184th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Melissa challenged Walnut Grove on Friday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 38-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cardinals have suffered since October 25, 2024.

Melissa's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Denison, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Denison took a serious blow against Melissa in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 28-0. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
