Baseball Game Preview: Montgomery Aztecs vs. Eastlake Titans

For the second straight game, Montgomery will face off against Eastlake. The Aztecs will welcome the Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Montgomery is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Montgomery made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Eastlake, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Aztecs fell just short of the Titans by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday.

For Eastlake's part, the result came thanks to Nick Romero's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. Romero has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eastlake's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Joel Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Eastlake pushed their record up to 12-7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Montgomery, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
