Softball Game Preview: Chicopee Comp Colts vs. Southwick Regional Rams

The Chicopee Comp Colts are taking a road trip to challenge the Southwick Regional Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chicopee Comp is looking for their season's first victory.

Chicopee Comp lost 24-10 to Mount Everett Regional on Monday.

Arianna Bird stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Ari Chagnon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Southwick Regional might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Central who claimed the real prize. The Rams came up short against the Golden Eagles, falling 13-6. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southwick Regional saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Novak, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another was Khloe Lafogg, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Chicopee Comp's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Southwick Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chicopee Comp has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Southwick Regional struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Chicopee Comp took their win against Southwick Regional when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
