Basketball Preview: Dell City Cougars vs. Balmorhea Bears
Dell City is 1-9 against the Bears since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dell City Cougars' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Balmorhea Bears at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Balmorhea took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Dell City, who comes in off a win.
Dell City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Big Bend 64-44. The win was just what Dell City needed coming off of a 60-32 loss in their prior match.
It was another big night for Reyes Espinoza, who scored 20 points along with eight assists and eight steals. Espinoza is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Estrada, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Balmorhea's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 59-33 defeat at the hands of Van Horn. Balmorhea was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.
Dell City's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Balmorhea, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Dell City might still be hurting after the 75-51 defeat they got from the Bears when the teams last played back in January. Can Dell City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
