Preview: Renaissance Academy Knights vs. Delaware County Christian Knights
The Renaissance Academy Knights and the Delaware County Christian Knights will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Renaissance Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 652nd, while Delaware County Christian is ranked 134th).
Renaissance Academy suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 54-19 loss at the hands of Church Farm. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Renaissance Academy has scored all season.
They used a three-pronged attack on offense:
Nico Villa,
Ed Breazeale IV, and
Taijae Byrd-Breazeale posted two points each.
Meanwhile, Delaware County Christian had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Collegium Charter 77-49 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Delaware County Christian has posted yet this season.
Khamai Orange continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Lyren, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Renaissance Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Delaware County Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Renaissance Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-37 loss to Delaware County Christian when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Renaissance Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
