Softball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Ironwood Ridge's Winning Streak

Ironwood Ridge dropped their record down to 15-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 8-3 to the Walden Grove Red Wolves. The Nighthawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Wolves earlier this season, when they won 12-2.

Evangeline Quezada made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Walden Grove, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games.

On Walden Grove's side, Maddie Holzer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Natalie Holzer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Isabel Higuera, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Ironwood Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Walden Grove, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-0 defeat against Sunnyside on the 24th.
