Volleyball Recap: Bishop Hartley Takes a Loss

Bishop Hartley managed to slip by Huron the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Tigers on Saturday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered since October 26, 2024.

Bishop Hartley was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 25-18.

Maddie Ryan paced Bishop Hartley's offense, picking up 11 kills. Ryan got some help from Malory Matheny and her 12 assists. Addie Lawler controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Huron to victory were Adelyn Van Sickle and Rylie Dehn. Van Sickle had 15 digs and one assist, while Dehn had three digs and three aces. Van Sickle has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Bishop Hartley's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Huron, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Hartley will host Beechcroft at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Huron, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Galion at 6:00 p.m. Huron is facing Galion at the right time seeing as Galion is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
