Baseball Game Preview: Lafayette Rams vs. Rappahannock Raiders

The Lafayette Rams will head out to challenge the Rappahannock Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Lafayette is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 22, 2024 on Friday. They lost 10-2 to Grafton. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Clippers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Lafayette saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reed Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Rappahannock is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Southern Fulton. The Raiders fell just short of the Indians by a score of 4-2. This is the Raiders'third heartbreak in a row against the Indians following a 2-0 back in April of 2024.

Rappahannock's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Lafayette couldn't quite finish off Rappahannock in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
