Baseball Recap: Florence Gets the Win

Florence took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Saraland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Florence came out on top in a nail-biter against Saraland on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Spartans on Tuesday, they had to take a 9-3 defeat.

Henry Thomas Blanke made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten games.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Thomaston, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Florence's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11. As for Saraland, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florence will welcome Sparkman at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Saraland, they will take on Davidson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
