Basketball Game Preview: South Sumter Raiders vs. Belleview Rattlers

South Sumter is 0-5 against Belleview since December of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The South Sumter Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Belleview Rattlers at 6:00 p.m.

South Sumter came up short against The Villages Charter on Thursday, falling 52-29. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while the Buffalo are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, Belleview had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Hurricanes 50-28. The Rattlers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

Belleview is also on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for South Sumter, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.

Things could have been worse for South Sumter, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-28 loss to Belleview when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can South Sumter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
