Preview: Plymouth vs. Northampton County
Northampton County and Plymouth face off this Friday at 7:30 PM to determine whose season will come to a close. Northampton County is coming into the game hot, having won 11 in a row.
Northampton County kept its home record unblemished after another positive outing on its own turf. It kept its opponent Southeast Halifax off the scoreboard entirely last week, winning the match 20 - 0. Northampton County especially relied on senior Jevontae Hicks, who ran for 65 yards and also punched in one touchdown, and junior Tevon Shoulders, who threw for 16 yards and gained 70 yards on the ground. Hicks has now scored at least one TD in the past four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Plymouth has netted another blowout to add to its collection (now totaling five) after its most recent game. It took its game against South Robeson last week by a confident 36 - 6 score. The game was pretty much decided by the half: the score was 36 - 0 going into the third quarter.
Their wins bumped Northampton County to 11-1 and Plymouth to 8-5. While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
