Softball Recap: First Coast Gets the Win

First Coast won the last time they faced Sandalwood and things went their way on Thursday too. The First Coast Buccaneers walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Sandalwood Saints. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buccaneers.

Lynneisa Whittington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brooke Edmonds was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She also stole a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kyrie Camarce, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

The win got First Coast back to even at 2-2. As for Sandalwood, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, First Coast will host Stanton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. First Coast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Sandalwood, they are taking a road trip to face off against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
