Basketball Game Preview: Yarmouth Clippers vs. Freeport Falcons

The Yarmouth Clippers will venture away from home to challenge the Freeport Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Yarmouth has five straight victories, Freeport has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Saturday, Yarmouth was able to grind out a solid win over Medomak Valley, taking the game 57-45. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Clippers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Panthers are ranked second).

Meanwhile, Freeport lost to Gardiner on the road by a 60-41 margin on Saturday.

Yarmouth pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Freeport, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Yarmouth couldn't quite finish off Freeport when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 60-57. Can Yarmouth avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
