It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Long Reach had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the River Hill Hawks 69-67. This was a revenge game for the Lightning: when they faced off against the Hawks two weeks ago, they had to take a 75-64 loss.
When it comes to explaining why River Hill lost, don't look at Nicholas Kogut. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Kogut has posted since back in December of 2024. Justin Bishop was another key player, putting up 17 points.
Long Reach's record now sits at 6-16. As for River Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
Long Reach will venture away from home to take on Atholton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Atholton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Long Reach likes a good challenge. River Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
