Basketball Recap: Statesville Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Statesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pine Lake Prep Pride. The Greyhounds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pride apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

When it comes to explaining why Statesville lost, don't look at Manuel (MJ) Gladden. Despite the final result, he shot 43% from the field on his way to 22 points and five steals. That was a full 40% of the Greyhounds' points, marking the fifth time in a row Gladden has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Williams, who put up four points and eight boards.

Statesville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Pine Lake Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Statesville will take on Hough at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Pine Lake Prep, they will face off against A.C. Reynolds at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
