Baseball Game Preview: East Central Hornets vs. Stone Tomcats

For the second straight game, East Central will face off against Stone. East Central will be playing at home against Stone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

East Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over Stone on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gage Damazio was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Combs, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

East Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stone only posted a batting average of .235.

Stone has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. East Central's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-11.
