Softball Recap: Federal Hocking Lancers vs. Eastern Eagles

Federal Hocking had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it 13. They lost 23-3 to the Eastern Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 two weeks ago.

As for Eastern, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Eastern's part, Rylie White 2027 made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave White 2027 a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Emma Putman 2025 was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Ashlynn Thomas 2027 was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI.

Coincidentally, Federal Hocking and Eastern will both be playing Belpre the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Lancers will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
