Basketball Recap: Antonito Comes Up Short

Antonito was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Cotopaxi Pirates and fell 52-15. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-8.

Shyanne Martinez and Kim Sisneros certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Martinez posted six points along with five boards and four blocks, while Sisneros had two points and four steals.

Hayden Eggleston continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cotopaxi, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 15 steals. Those 15 steals gave Eggleston a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelsey Teter, who scored six points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks.

Antonito's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Cotopaxi, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Moffat the next time they take the court. Cotopaxi will head out to face Moffat at 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, while Antonito will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
