Soccer Game Preview: Waverly vs. Standing Bear

The Waverly Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Standing Bear Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waverly will be strutting in after a victory while Standing Bear will be coming in after a loss.

While Waverly's win against Lincoln Northwest wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Falcons 2-1. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Waverly were the better team in the second half.

Ava Amos and Ava Claussen scored both of Waverly's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Standing Bear fell victim to Norris and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. Standing Bear have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Waverly's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Standing Bear, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
