High school basketball rankings: Five MaxPreps Top 25 teams look to complete state title runs

No. 5 Imhotep Charter, No. 17 Roman Catholic and No. 20 Neumann-Goretti look to repeat as state champions in Pennsylvania.

The 2022-23 high school basketball season is in its final weeks with the final six states crowning champions over the weekend before GEICO Nationals and the State Champions Invitational take center stage.

State championship games in Pennsylvania, New York and Indiana headline the action this weekend with five MaxPreps Top 25 teams in the mix.

No. 5 Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia), No. 17 Roman Catholic (Philadelphia) and No. 20 Neumann-Goretti (Philadelphia) each look to repeat as state champions in Pennsylvania this weekend.

No. 3 Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) looks to build on its state record of eight Federation titles while No. 10 Ben Davis (Indianapolis) looks to close out its perfect season against Kokomo in the Indiana Class 4A state title game.



Long Island Lutheran and No. 6 Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.) compete in GEICO Nationals from March 30-April 1 and No. 13 Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.), No. 18 Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) and No. 21 Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.) participate in the State Champions Invitational from April 6-8.

Face Victor in the NYS Federation Class AA semifinals on Saturday. With a win, the Crusaders will look to expand on their state record of eight Federation titles Sunday against the winner of Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains) and Eagle Academy (Bronx).

Five-star Kentucky signee Justin Edwards pumped in a game-high 31 points in a 65-58 victory over Abington Heights (Clarks Summit) in the Class 5A state quarterfinals before four-star junior Ahmad Nowell finished with a game-high 23 points in a 72-50 win over Archbishop Ryan (Philadelphia) in the semifinals. The Panthers look to repeat as state champions against Exeter Township (Reading) on Friday.

Making GEICO Nationals debut later this month, taking on National Top 10 No. 2 Link Academy (Branson, Mo.) in their first-round matchup on March 30.

In a rematch of last season's state title game, the Cahillites take on Archbishop Wood (Warminster) tonight in their semifinal showdown.

Baylor commit Robert Wright III led the way in wins over Bishop Shanahan (Downingtown) and Allentown Central Catholic (Allentown) to put the Saints in the Class 4A state title game. Neumann-Goretti meets Lincoln Park (Midland) on Thursday for a shot at back-to-back championships.
