Baseball Recap: Elyria Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lorain

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elyria). They blew past the Lorain Titans 16-2 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pioneers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Chavalia, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Steven Hernandez, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Elyria's win bumped their record up to 6-20. As for Lorain, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-12.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Elyria will head out on the road to square off against St. Ignatius at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Lorain, they will head out to take on Valley Forge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
