The Maynard Tigers will face off against the Fitchburg Blue Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Maynard has four straight wins, Fitchburg has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Maynard barely beat Tahanto Regional the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers never let the Stags get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jillian Macfarlane made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Raschi, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Schmidt, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Fitchburg couldn't beat Leominster on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Blue Raiders lost 20-5 to the Blue Devils.
Ella Kitchin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Maynard's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fitchburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Maynard took their win against Fitchburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Blue Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
