Basketball Recap: Southern Maryland Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Southern Maryland Christian Academy lost against Takoma Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs came up short against the Takoma Academy Tigers, falling 63-40. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Southern Maryland Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Mateo Rico, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Corey Hughley, who posted nine points.

Southern Maryland Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season. As for Takoma Academy, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Meanwhile, Takoma Academy (ranked 105th) will meet Coolidge (ranked fifth) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
