Basketball Game Preview: Michigan City Wolves vs. La Porte Slicers

Michigan City has gone 8-2 against La Porte recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Michigan City Wolves will challenge the La Porte Slicers at 5:30 p.m. Michigan City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully La Porte likes a good challenge.

Two weeks ago, Michigan City beat Merrillville 67-59. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Pirates are ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Michigan City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Terrance Mccray, who posted 11 points. Mccray is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last three games he's played. Taquerion Vanburen was another key player, putting up 12 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but La Porte had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-37 victory over the Kingsmen.

La Porte's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Michigan City, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Michigan City beat La Porte 74-63 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Michigan City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
