Preview: St. Ignatius Wildcats vs. Maple Heights Mustangs

After two games on the road, St. Ignatius is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Maple Heights Mustangs at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Ignatius knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Maple Heights likes a good challenge.

St. Ignatius scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Sunday. They escaped with a win against Reynoldsburg by the margin of a single free throw, 98-97. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

St. Ignatius' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quinn Woidke, who scored 21 points. The matchup was Woidke's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Robinson, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Maple Heights pushed their score all the way to 56 on Sunday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dunbar.

St. Ignatius' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Maple Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything went St. Ignatius' way against Maple Heights in their previous meeting back in January of 2021 as St. Ignatius made off with a 71-49 victory. Does St. Ignatius have another victory up their sleeve, or will Maple Heights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
