Basketball Game Preview: Lakes Eagles vs. Vernon Hills Cougars

The Lakes Eagles will face off against the Vernon Hills Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakes is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Lakes came up short against Grayslake Central on Thursday, falling 47-26. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while the Rams are ranked 88th).

Meanwhile, Vernon Hills lost to Maine South at home by a 45-28 margin on Tuesday.

Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Vernon Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 19-11.

Lakes was dealt a bruising 62-26 defeat at the hands of Vernon Hills when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Lakes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
