Basketball Recap: Greenfield Takes a Loss

Greenfield lost against John Paul II Catholic back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Greenfield Knights lost 55-32 to the John Paul II Catholic Saints. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Saints are ranked 90th).

Leading John Paul II Catholic to victory were Ariana Atkinson and Cam Daise. Atkinson went 8 of 14 on her way to 21 points and eight boards, while Daise dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds gave Daise a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Hinnant, who posted seven points.

Greenfield's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for John Paul II Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Greenfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for John Paul II Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-29 victory against Cape Fear Academy on the 7th.
