Softball Recap: Huntingdon Drops Season-High Score on Mount Union

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Huntingdon). They blew past the Mount Union Trojans 10-2 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bearcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Alivia Nicklow made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Leah Beck was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alivia Edwards, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Huntingdon lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Huntingdon's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Mount Union, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Huntingdon will venture away from home to face off against Chestnut Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mount Union, they will head out to take on Southern Huntingdon County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
