Volleyball Game Preview: St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans vs. Newark Norsemen

The St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans will take on the Newark Norsemen in a tournament on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, St. Joseph-Ogden turned things around against Rantoul on Thursday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 2-0.

St. Joseph-Ogden not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Rantoul between 20 and 21 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Newark was able to grind out a solid win over Hinckley-Big Rock on Thursday, taking the game 2-0.

Newark easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-13.

St. Joseph-Ogden's victory bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Newark, their win bumped their record up to 24-3.

St. Joseph-Ogden couldn't quite get it done against Newark in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
