Baseball Recap: Immaculata Finds Home Field Redemption Against Hillsborough

There's no place like home for Immaculata, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Hillsborough Raiders by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday. The Spartans have beaten the Raiders the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Raiders has come to flipping the script.

Ryan Auten looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Owen Schilling was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Justin Labrador, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Immaculata was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsborough only posted a batting average of .192.

Immaculata's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Hillsborough, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Immaculata will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
