Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Masconomet Regional walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Melrose Red Hawks with a sharp 34-14 win on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Chieftains as they're now sitting on five straight.

Masconomet Regional's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Melrose, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Masconomet Regional will take on Milton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Melrose, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wakefield Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on the 25th.
