Baseball Game Preview: Alba-Golden Panthers vs. Big Sandy Wildcats

For the second straight game, Alba-Golden will face off against Big Sandy. The Panthers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alba-Golden has three straight wins, Big Sandy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Alba-Golden beats Big Sandy with 15 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Wildcats on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won eight matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tucker Samples made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Samples was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Cason Boyd was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Boogie Trimble was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Alba-Golden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Alba-Golden's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Big Sandy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
