The Nederland Bulldogs will challenge the Port Neches-Groves Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Nederland will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Beaumont United on Tuesday. Nederland was the clear victor by a 19-1 margin over Beaumont United. The Bulldogs have beaten the Timberwolves the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Timberwolves has come to flipping the script.

Grace Seigrist and Kaylee Baker were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Seigrist pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Baker pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Seigrist scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Baker got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and four RBI. Those three runs gave Seigrist a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hope Foster was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Sophia Livingston was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Port Neches-Groves got the win against Lee on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Like Nederland, Port Neches-Groves also got a great game from a two-way player: Mckayla Hranicky. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Hranicky has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
In other pitching news, Kalli Smith looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Kiana Ledoux was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jardin Cunningham, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Port Neches-Groves always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee only posted an OBP of .355.
Port Neches-Groves' victory bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Nederland, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Nederland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .507. However, it's not like Port Neches-Groves struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
