Baseball Recap: Marlington's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Marlington suffered their biggest loss since April 27, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the Waynedale Golden Bears, falling 8-1. The loss was the Dukes' first of the season.

Marlington got a good showing from Sam Yoder, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Yoder has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marlington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Hawthorne, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Hawthorne is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Marlington fell to 2-1-1.

Coming up, Marlington will challenge Canfield at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Waynedale, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Norwayne at 5:00 p.m.
