Football Game Preview: Lee Academy Colts vs. Kirk Academy Raiders

Lee Academy and Kirk Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2017, but not for long. The Colts will welcome the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lee Academy's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past North Delta to the tune of 42-0. The Colts pushed the score to 36-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Green Wave had no chance of recovering from.

Desi Monix was his usual excellent self, rushing for 172 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Monix is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 115 every time he's taken the field this season. Jackson Lively was another key player, gaining 92 total yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lee Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 173 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Kirk Academy humbled Regents with a 50-13 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Kirk Academy had a senior duo take command as Gage Vance rushed for 182 yards and three scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry and Linton Carson rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. The Raiders are undefeated when Carson posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Maverick Fowler, who rushed for 52 yards and one TD.

Kirk Academy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lee Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lee Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 270.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Kirk Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 254.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Lee Academy took a serious blow against Kirk Academy in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 42-6. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Colts were down 21-0.
