Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Victory Christian Center's 12th in Last 13 Outings

Victory Christian Center won the last time they faced West Charlotte and things went their way on Saturday too. The Victory Christian Center Kings walked away with a 49-41 win over the West Charlotte Lions. Given the Kings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Lions are ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Victory Christian Center to victory were Carlos Marshall and Abubakar Cham. Marshall dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Cham dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Those 22 points gave Marshall a new career-high.

Victory Christian Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Charlotte only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

Despite the loss, West Charlotte had strong showings from Chase Bryson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds, and DJ Williams, who went 6 of 9 en route to 13 points. Williams has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last eight times he's played. Christian Coleman was another key player, putting up five points.

Victory Christian Center is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for West Charlotte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.

Victory Christian Center has already played their next matchup (against Ambassador Christian School), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. West Charlotte will welcome West Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Charlotte is facing West Mecklenburg at the right time seeing as West Mecklenburg is stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
