Softball Recap: Leslie County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Owsley County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leslie County). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls an 18-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Owls / Lady Owls: they've now won four in a row.

Makayla Campbell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Leslie County got a massive performance out of Kaylee Caudill, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave Caudill a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaelynn Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Leslie County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Leslie County's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Owsley County, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leslie County will face off against Floyd Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Owsley County, they will take on Lee County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
