Basketball Game Preview: Halifax County Comets vs. Martinsville Bulldogs

Halifax County and Martinsville are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Halifax County Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Martinsville Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Halifax County came up short against Liberty on Monday, falling 60-37. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Minutemen are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Martinsville came up short against Bassett on Friday and fell 39-29. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Bengals recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Halifax County, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-12.

Halifax County took their victory against Martinsville in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 45-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Halifax County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
