Basketball Recap: South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] Comes Up Short

South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Central Thunder. The Mustangs were probably out for revenge after losing 49-33 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

North Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ella Batie led the charge by dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Batie is now averaging an impressive 8.4 boards per game. Amree Vander Vorst was another key player, putting up 20 points.

South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley]'s defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for North Central, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Herreid/Selby at 6:00 p.m. on January 20, 2025. After both having extra time off, North Central and Timber Lake will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
