Baseball Game Preview: Lake Catholic Cougars vs. Perkins Pirates

The Lake Catholic Cougars will take on the Perkins Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lake Catholic sitting on nine straight victories and Perkins on six.

Lake Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They skirted past Unioto 5-3.

Patrick Radigan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lake Catholic's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Pete Malchesky, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Tyler Hribar, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Lake Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Unioto only posted a batting average of .050.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Perkins sidestepped Indian Hill for a 4-3 victory.

Lake Catholic pushed their record up to 25-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Perkins, their win bumped their record up to 23-9.
