Shepard took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Richards, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Astros had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Shepard now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Richards, they moved to 17-10 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Shepard is set to challenge their familiar foe Argo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Richards will square off against rival Evergreen Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.2, the Mustangs 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
