Holy Cross won the last time they faced Newport Central Catholic and things went their way on Saturday too. The Holy Cross Indians managed a 54-50 win over the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Thoroughbreds are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Holy Cross and bumps their season record up to 22-4. As for Newport Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.

Coming up, Holy Cross will face off against Frederick Douglass at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Frederick Douglass will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Holy Cross surely won't give up without a fight.
