Softball Recap: New Providence Gets the Win

New Providence's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Chatham Cougars 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Haley Kessler, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Emma Peldunas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

New Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

New Providence now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Chatham, their record is now 5-5.

Looking ahead, New Providence will square off against Union Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.89 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chatham, they will host Morristown at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
