Basketball Recap: Angleton Christian Warriors vs. The Connection School of Houston Bears
Even though The Connection School of Houston Bears scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, the Angleton Christian Warriors still came out on top. Angleton Christian escaped with a win against the Bears by the margin of a single free throw, 56-55. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Angleton Christian also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Leading Angleton Christian to victory were Joel Lovell and Graham Rosa. Lovell dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Rosa dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elan Bowman, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
The Connection School of Houston's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennen Citizen, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Citizen has scored all season. Daniel Senofsky was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Angleton Christian and bumps their season record up to 6-7. As for The Connection School of Houston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Angleton Christian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Cornerstone Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. As for The Connection School of Houston, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Texas Christian will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
