Softball Recap: Fruitvale Bobcats vs. Martins Mill Mustangs
Fruitvale made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Martins Mill, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Fruitvale Bobcats put the hurt on the Martins Mill Mustangs with a sharp 9-3 win on Monday. The Bobcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kyla Bain made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Holly Hance was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Ronnye Tull was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Fruitvale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
With the victory, Fruitvale broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5-1.
They will have a chance to go back-to-back against Martins Mill: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
