The Burroughs Bears will square off against the Arcadia Apaches at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burroughs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Burroughs needed a bit of extra time to put away Muir. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 2-1.
Valentina Reyes spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Karlee Earl, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Morales, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Burroughs hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters in seven consecutive contests.
Arcadia never got on the board in their matchup back in March, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Glendale on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Nitros with a sharp 11-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Arcadia also got a great performance from Quinn Sullivan as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Sullivan a new career-high.
At the plate, Arcadia let Addy Ruiz and Alyssa Cordeiro run wild. Ruiz went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple, while Cordeiro went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two doubles gave Ruiz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zabrina Perez, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Burroughs' win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Arcadia, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1.
