Basketball Recap: Bethany Christian Comes Up Short

Bethany Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They took a blow against the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers, falling 55-16. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Panthers are ranked 140th).

Despite the defeat, Bethany Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Amari Yoder Lind posted four points and seven boards.

It was another big night for Ava McGrade, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on her way to 24 points and three steals for Lakewood Park Christian. McGrade has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luca Bontrager, who had eight points and three steals.

Bethany Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Lakewood Park Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bethany Christian will challenge South Bend Career Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they will take on Elkhart Christian Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
