Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pendleton

Pendleton extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 11-13. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 63-57 W against the Belton-Honea Path Bears. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Leading Pendleton to victory were Brice Bolt and DeQuan Hickmon. Bolt went 6-for-11 en route to 18 points and seven boards, while Hickmon shot 56% from the field on his way to 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those five steals gave Hickmon a new career-high. Samuel Ross was another key player, putting up 15 points and eight rebounds.

Pendleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they hit their own glass that hard.

As for Belton-Honea Path, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 13-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Despite the defeat, Belton-Honea Path saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Eugene Robinson dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. Robinson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 63% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Marshall Bolden, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Pendleton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 84-55 victory against Crescent on the 10th. As for Belton-Honea Path, they have also already played their next contest, a 65-50 win against Walhalla on the 10th.
