Covenant Christian extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Aaron Turner. The Covenant Christian Cougars strolled past the Pantego Christian Panthers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 51-37 thanks in part to Turner, who went 8 for 20 en route to 18 points along with six boards and five steals. Covenant Christian is undefeated when Turner posts three or more steals, but 6-11 otherwise.
The team also got some help courtesy of Max McIlhaney, who posted six points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in October of 2023.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tristan Brown, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Brown is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aj Brooks, who scored nine points and three steals.
Covenant Christian now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Pantego Christian, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-13.
Covenant Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pantego Christian, they will take on Lake Country Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. Pantego Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.
