Football Recap: Butte County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Butte County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They took a 26-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carey Panthers. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

As for Carey, the victory (which was their 12th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points over those games.

Stockton Sears was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 136 yards and one score on only ten carries. Those 136 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jonah Saili also helped with three TDs in total.

Butte County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tri-Valley at 4:00 p.m. on the 20th. As for Carey, they will head out on the road to challenge Castleford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Panthers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
